If you are teaching your child at home, you might wonder whether you are doing enough. Most parents of children with special needs feel this at some point. The good news is that progress comes from consistency, not perfection.

Start with one realistic learning block each day. Even 20 to 30 focused minutes can create meaningful improvement when repeated across the week. Children learn best when they know what to expect.

Use visual structure. A simple plan like warm-up, short task, movement break, and review helps children stay engaged. It also lowers anxiety because your child can see what is coming next.

Teach one small target at a time. For example, if reading is hard, practice one decoding skill before moving to the next. Small wins build confidence and reduce resistance.

End each session with encouragement. Children remember how learning felt. When they feel safe and successful, they are more willing to try again tomorrow.
